FIVE BEAN POD FOUND AT TECH PORT
Merschman Seeds has located one of the infamous five bean pods everyone is hunting for in their Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybeans. While shooting some harvest photos at the Tech Port, we discovered this five bean pod in the Merschman Arthur 1030RR2Y soybeans. The Arthur line is very strong this year. Many Merschman customers have reported the highest yields ever on particular fields with this variety, yielding in the high 60s, 70s, and 80s on some fields. The Arthur line even topped 100 BPA in several locations on a field in West Central Illinois in early October. Check out this variety and more for your fields in 2011. You won't be disappointed!!!

As harvest season is getting into full swing and yield results are filtering in, Merschman Seeds' corn and soybeans are leading the pack. Harvest Season in Full Swing
With the 2010 harvest season in full swing, it's important to remember to take a little extra time for safety. Here are a few tips to keep in mind as you get out in the fields this fall.
- Power take offs need to be well protected to avoid any contact with clothing or people during operation.
- Make sure safety shields are in place on all equipment everyday - they are there for a reason and are important. The same is true of equipment safety instructions.
- Always be aware of power lines that can come in contact with moving equipment and augers around grain bins.
- Grain bins deserve special attention and caution when grain is being loaded and removed. Safety measures should be put in place to avoid any risk of entrapment and suffocation.
- Take periodic breaks to help avoid fatigue. Take a rest break for a few minutes, go for a short walk or give family members a call.
